4 Questions To Ask Yourself When Choosing Whole House Water Filters

When shopping for whole house water filters, you have a number of choices. The right choice in a whole house water filter depends on the contaminants in your supply. The information here should help you choose the right product.

Do you have a private well?

If you have a private well, the US Environmental Protection Agency recommends that you have annual testing done to confirm the purity of your supply. Testing can be expensive, but you need a reliable and accurate record. It’s not just about “which” whole house water filters to purchase. A testing record can be used to prove that incoming industry or construction damaged your supply.

Are you serviced by a public treatment facility?

If you are serviced by a public provider your primary need is chlorine removal. You want a whole house water filter that is UL (Underwriters laboratory) or NSF certified. WQA certifications are made by a trade group that allows members to “claim” performance, without providing the data to back up their claims.

]]>

In addition to chlorine removal, the removal of microscopic particles is recommended. Those systems that filter down to 5 microns provide the cleanest drinking water. If you are concerned about cysts, you will still need a kitchen system that filters down to one micron.

How much should you pay?

If you have a private well, a whole house water filter purification system can be quite expensive. It just depends on what contaminants are present. People who live near the coast often have a high sediment and sodium content. You will likely need prefiltration and a kitchen faucet purifier.

If you are on a public water line, the best whole house water filters on the market can be purchased for less than a thousand dollars. There are more expensive brands, but there is no reason to pay 00 for a whole house water filter when you can get the same effectiveness in a less expensive product. If you shop at a retail store, you will pay more, simply because of mark-up.

Do I really need whole house water filters?

If you have a private well, you might not need a whole house water filter. But, anyone serviced by a public treatment facility can benefit from chlorine removal.

It is a necessary evil, as it controls bacterial growth and prevents outbreaks of waterborne illnesses. But, it is bad for the digestive system. In the shower it damages the skin and hair. Cooking with and showering in chlorinated water causes the release of toxic gases.

So, you are not only filtering your water, you are also improving the quality of your home’s indoor air. If you have asthma or another chronic respiratory condition, your health will improve when you improve the quality of the air.

Your clothes will last longer and the colors will be brighter, because you are not constantly “bleaching” them. Whole house water filters can save you money and protect your health, as long as you buy the right product.

Don’t be a Drip – Identify Water Leaks Early

Leaks do silent damage to a home. Something as small as a loose trap or clogged drain can go undetected for months; leaking water into your cabinets, between your walls, or under your floors and causing extensive, costly damage. An external leak in an irrigation system can quietly waste more than 100 gallons of water each day.

Leaky pipes or openings usually leave warning signs of their presence so you can identify the type of damage and repair it early.

Water Stains: This type of radiant stain is a sure fire way to identify a current or old water leak. Where you find the stain indicates where the leak may have originated.

A water stain around windows or at the bottom of exterior doors show that water is getting in from the outside.

A stain in the seam between the ceiling and an exterior wall may indicate a roof leak or possible build up of ice. If you have plumbing lines in the attic, the problem may be there as well.

A water stain on the bottom of a cabinet could have originated from a leaky sink trap or pipe.

Buckling or stained floors may indicate a wood floor that has absorbed water from a leak. High risk areas include the kitchen floor around the dishwasher or the refrigerator (if it has an ice maker or filtered water), or in front of a poorly sealed window. The bathroom is another problem area. Watch for water rings around the toilet or in front of the tub or shower.

]]>

Structural Problems: Spongy beams or rafters may be a warning of structural problems as a result of water damage. Spotting these in time may save you thousands of dollars in repairs.

Take a Water Flow Test: If you’ve checked for signs of water damage, but still suspect you have a leak, take a water flow test. Shut off all sources of water to your house, inside and out, and locate your water meter. The red triangle or flow indicator at the top will tell you when water is passing through it. If the flow indicator or the sweep hand is moving, you may have a leak.

Use the process of elimination to determine where the leak is coming from. Shut of one toilet, go to the meter and see if the red triangle is moving. If it stopped moving, that toilet is the culprit. If not, turn the toilet back on and shut off another. Continue in this manner checking all high risk water sources including toilets, sprinkler system water softener, air conditioner, ice machine, etc. If you shut off the main water valve to your home and the meter is still moving, the leak may be between the shutoff valve and the water meter.

Toilet Test: Use food coloring to determine whether your toilet has a leak. Remove the tank lid and flush. After it refills, add several drops of dark food coloring. Wait at least 20 minutes and if any trace of color appears in the toilet bowl, you have a leak.

Water damage in drywall makes it soft or crumbling, discolored or swollen, and can appear on the wall or ceiling.

Many of these signs and symptoms of water damage are apparent after a good length of time, and in many cases extensive damage has already been done. A handy device to alert you of a leak in the early stages is a water-leak alarm. It has a plug-in main unit (with battery backup) and a sensor pad. Place the pad where a leak is most likely to happen (under the washer, in the crawl space, under a water heater, etc.). It will sound an alarm if it senses as little as a few drops of water.

Tap Water Filter ? Finding The Best System To Protect Your Health

A quality tap water filter is becoming more and more necessary today as the quality of the supply continues to deteriorate. Many companies are now cashing in on this trend, resulting in many poor quality systems that still leave you exposed. Find out how to select the most effective ones.

The main thing to bear in mind when selecting a tap water filter or a tap water purifier, is that it must be able to remove the harmful synthetic toxins like pesticides and prescription drugs.

In a recent study, at least two types of pesticide were found in 95% of the samples from states across the US!

Most of the tap water filters available simply cannot remove these because they are smaller than water and easily slip through most filters and into your household supply.

]]>

First off, forget the reverse osmosis systems. These are extremely inefficient and cannot prevent the synthetic chemicals. They also strip out the trace minerals that are needed for good health.

The place to look for a new water filtration system is online, as you may have guessed. Here you can find so much more information than by visiting a local store.

Look for a dual cartridge system using activated carbon. These are the only types to achieve a 99% removal rate for all the main toxins, including the synthetic ones. The first stage removes most of the chlorine, odors and bad smells and the second stage removes the rest, including lead and synthetic chemicals.

These systems are very efficient and affordable and leave in trace minerals like calcium and potassium for your health.

Look also for independent verification that the tap water filter actually does what it says. Many companies make wild claims about their products which they cannot back up. Outside testing to determine exactly what their filters can remove is essential.

There are many different models to choose from too. The most popular types are under counter or countertop tap water purifiers. These are convenient and start at around 0, and should be able to filter up to 30 gallons each hour.

If you want all the water you use to be pure and healthy, then a whole house filtration system is the way to go. Although the initial cost can be around 00, it protects all of your supply and only needs a filter change every 3-5 years.

I hope this article leaves you better informed when you are choosing your tap water filter, and so soon you can enjoy healthy, pure and great tasting water.

Visit my website below if you would like to learn more about the types of home filtration systems that I personally recommend and use.

Solar Battery Back-sheet Water Vapor Transmission Testing Instruments

Solar battery has found its wide application in many industries for its energy saving, environmental friendly, long life and other advantages. Usually, the life span of solar batteries is designed up to more than 25 years. To achieve such long validity, a strict control of component quality should be guaranteed. Of all the components, the back sheet of solar battery is of great importance. The back sheet protects the battery of photovoltaic set. Further, one of the important indexes evaluating back sheet quality is the moisture barrier property. If the moisture barrier performance is not good, the moisture in ambient atmosphere would migrate into the inside through the back sheet, especially in rainy days. The moisture permeation would affect the adhesive performance of EVA and lead to EVA off, thus, further direct contact of moisture with battery leads to oxidization of battery. The above mentioned back sheet is termed as TPT polyfluoroethylene laminated film, and usually consists of three layers of PVF, PET and PVF. The outer PVF is a good protect against ambient corrosion. The mid-layer, PET film has good isolation ability. And the inner PVF, after treatment, has good adhesive performance with the EVA.

Insurance Lead Buying Guide – What you must know before you buy insurance leads!

Insurance Lead Buying Guide

Buying insurance leads online can be a very rewarding and profitable experience for insurance agents today. With that said, there is also a lot of opportunity to get ripped off or lose money if the agent hasn’t done the proper research to qualify a good insurance lead provider. We’ve created this insurance lead buying guide to give agents an idea of what to look for and what to avoid when considering an online insurance lead service.

Lead Data
When researching a prospective insurance lead service one of the first things to look for is what type of data are you going to get with a lead. Will it be a name and address or will it be a comprehensive overview that contains critical information such as age, income, history and other details depending on the lead type? The primary thing to look for here is a sample lead that you can review before making a purchase. This should be offered up front by any top tier lead service but if it is not they should willingly offer one upon request. If a service doesn’t offer a sample lead or disclose lead fields before making a purchase then you should move on.

Lead Delivery
This one is pretty simple. Unless you are specifically buying aged leads any quality lead provider should send you real time leads directly to your email or perhaps a web based interface. This is a must! The lead delivery aspect sometimes takes some trial to determine even if the lead is supposed to be real time. Other factors such as the providers email server and your own email provider can come into play. If you call or email leads as soon as you are notified and find out they’ve already been contacted or have bought from another agent this is a definite red flag.

Filtering Options
Assuming you are purchasing qualified leads the next most important aspect to bring a positive return on investment is pin pointing your target client. This can be achieved through lead filters. Most quality providers are going to offer a set of filters for your leads and many will also create custom filters for you at a reasonable rate. When paying for leads it is often a very value added purchase to pay a little more to get a custom filter. It is really just a numbers game that can be worked out with testing a few campaigns based on filter to see which one brings the greatest return. If you have a custom filter request that a service can’t or won’t create make sure you try other services as well before settling. At minimum you should be able to filter based on location, lead type and by the primary data fields.

]]>

Overselling
Another major factor to consider is how many agents are getting the same lead you are purchasing. Lower quality services will blast leads out to anyone interested which is definitely not something you want to pay good money for. Look for lead services that only sell leads to a few agents and doesn’t sell the same lead to more than one agent per company.

Bogus & Fake Leads
This one is also pretty simple. No matter what you use, a bogus lead or two is bound to get through the cracks from time to time. If you get one of these leads a good company will provide you credit or a refund for that lead. If you are getting a steady amount of fake or bogus leads it is probably time to try another service.

Lead Volume
Lead volume is more of a selling point than a detractor but it can make an agents life a lot easier. As an agent it is still worthwhile to use a service that can only provide a limited amount of leads per your filter request a long as they are high quality. If a service can provide high quality and good volume that is ever better. The point here is that lower volume really shouldn’t be a reason to not use a service if you are looking to maximize your leads. If you have a very tight filter or cover an area with a smaller population you will probably have to use multiple services to get the amount of leads you’d like.

Lead Cost
While cost is often the primary indicator on many types products and services it is not as important with insurance leads. Sure, everyone is interested in lower costs but the real emphasis in this game is getting the best value which encompasses many more variables. The best way to determine if a service has a good price point is by comparing all the other feature sets for similar quality providers and then asking for price quotes from those services. More times than not you will need to try out a couple of providers to determine which ones bring you the best value. As a general rule though you can expect ballpark pricing to be from -18/lead depending on lead type and volume requested. Custom filters could also bring an additional charge.

Testing
Our last recommendation for buying online insurance leads is to test the waters. Testing is the best way to ensure you have the best long term solution for your needs. We recommend you try at least 3 qualified lead services to get started. Once you have a good set of sample data (at least 25 leads) you can determine which provider is right for your business. You might need to move on to other services or you might end up using a of them long term but the bottom line is that taking the time to test multiple services will bring you higher profitability.

What type of home water purifier do you really need?

You will often come across water that is salted, tastes bad, smells bad, is light yellowish or brownish in color. Such water is unsafe to drink. But even if water tastes good and seem sparklingly fresh, you cannot assure that it is fresh water. Whatever the origin of the source of water to your home if it is not treated, you are prone to suffer from water-borne diseases. Unpurified water contains health-harming substances like lead, salt, herbicides, insecticides, bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc. that may take a toll on your health. Even if you do not fall ill because of your strong immune system, you are likely to harbor life-threatening diseases in the long run. This is the reason why NGOs, doctors, and various organizations advocate the use of water purifiers. At home, use of a home water purifier is the best option. There are water purifiers of different purifying mechanisms. You will have to choose a home water purifier that is effective in purifying the water you receive at home.

By now, you must have realized the importance of water and how it is absolutely essential to the human body’s survival. You can live for several days without food but without water, you cannot survive at all. Right from maintaining of healthy body weight with increased metabolism and regulated appetite to increased energy levels, non-dehydration to removal of toxic waste from the body, consumption of pure water facilitates all. So, enjoy the benefits of drinking pure water using water purifiers. To know which home water purifier will best suit you, get the water tested and you will be accordingly recommended.

RO water purifiers are recommended for use in areas where the TDS (total dissolved solids) levels in water are high. And you will come across various models and brands of RO water purifiers in the market or via direct sales. Go for the ones that come with multi-stage purifying mechanisms. Choosing one of the best RO water purifiers can make a difference in your health once you start using it.

The LemonFast pH Factor

Excerpted from “The LemonFast chapter 4 by Michael Webster and Michael J. Lavery.

 Chapter 4

The health of the body and mind are very much governed by the pH levels of the blood and the bodily fluids. Normal pH level for the blood is 7.4 and the range goes from 7.35 to 7.45. This is pure scientific fact. For everyone the temperature of the body is 98.6 degrees and the pH of the blood is exactly 7.4 when it is operating at peak efficiency. This very narrow range is critical for homeostasis, otherwise the human system gets out of balance and disease can overtake the body. The pH scale ranges from 1-14. The highest acid level possible is 1pH and the most alkaline level possible is a 14pH. What is measured is the proportion of hydrogen ions (H+) relative to hydroxyls (OH-) within arterial blood. It is expressed as a negative logarithm. This means that a drop in pH indicates an increase in hydrogen ions and a decrease in hydrogen ions is demonstrated by a rise in pH. It reflects a balance between acids and bases (alkaline) rather than a measure of total acids in solution. Body chemistry (fluids) has a delicate range between 6.8-7.4 pH for proper maintenance of health.

Maintaining this pH range is necessary for the whole body to function well physically, mentally and emotionally. Tremendous amounts of research indicates that the cells of the body need proper pH balance for optimum performance. The problem is that most people do not have any serious understanding of the major importance of monitoring and maintaining proper pH levels of the bodily fluids. It is very easy to do and the cost is minimal. Most health food stores or pharmacies carry such a pH testing kit. It can be done in the privacy of the home and takes only seconds. The urine is the best indicator of the state of the pH of the blood, although there is a test for the saliva.

When a pH strip is place in the urine stream it will indicate whether this bodily fluid is acidic or alkaline. From this reading one can take the necessary steps to keep it at the right levels or bring it within a healthy range. So many people that are introduced to this idea are very curious about what all this means to them and they must read up on the matter for there to be any benefit Urine runs slightly acid pH and it is normal for readings to range from 6.0 to the 7.4. Throughout the day, the readings will vary.

Usually in the morning, the level will be lower because no food has been eaten for 8 to 10 hours. With the consumption of food, it will rise during the day, depending upon each individual’s circumstances. If the proper ratio of alkaline to acid foods is eaten, the pH of the urine will be the indicator. One has to understand that when the term alkaline or acid is used it is the state of the ash of the metabolized food that is being measured. This ash (waste) that is excreted by the cells, enters the extra-cellular fluid, makes its way into the blood stream and determines the blood pH. For example, the pH of milk is alkaline, however it is metabolized as an acid ash. Likewise the pH of lemon juice is extremely acidic, but it is metabolized as an alkaline ash. It is the amount of these waste products in concentration in the intracellular and extracellular fluid that determines the state of the pH of the blood. These waste products enter the blood stream and therefore increase the concentration of Hydrogen ions (H+) or Hydroxyls (OH-), thus either raising or lowering the pH of the blood. When Hydroxyls outnumber Hydrogen ions, the pH is a slightly alkaline. If the reverse is true, then the body activates the buffer system, by adding alkaline minerals into the bloodstream.

This in turn brings the blood pH within the proper range. By eating the wrong foods (too much acid ash), the body is in a state of stress. If the pH of the urine is constantly in the high acid range then this is called acidosis. When the urine pH is 6.0 and below for extended periods of time, it indicates that body fluids elsewhere are too acidic. This puts an extra burden on the body because it is constantly attempting to rid itself of an acid medium. Consequently, when the urine pH is normal, the blood pH is normal. However, when the urine pH is overly acidic the blood pH is likely below 7.35 and this state of acidosis is extremely dangerous. This is where depletion of important minerals occurs, resulting in a host of health problems. The magnitude of this information is of incredible importance to someone who is fighting a disease, overcoming an illness, or desiring to be in a state of optimum health. The first question that a doctor should ask of a person fighting a disease should be what is the pH of this patient. Paraphrasing Dr. Carson E. Pierce The cell, the basic unit of life is slightly alkaline with pH is in the 7.3 to 7.4 range. Buffers in our body constantly adjust our pH balance, which keep our blood from becoming either too acidic or too alkaline. Our bones, lungs, kidneys, liver and other processes all keep our pH at normal levels. Healthy cells contain large amounts of alkaline substances such as oxygen, bicarbonate and certain minerals. However, the wear and tear of daily life gradually causes our cells to lose their alkalinity and become more acidic. This scenario makes us more prone to disease. Over 90% of Americans become overly acidic during their lifetimes, due in part to many factors. Diet is one of the major reasons. The saying “you are what you eat” is a true, but we are more about what we digest and assimilate. If our digestive tract is lined with mucus, toxins and dried fecal matter then we are not in a position to benefit from the right foods. This is why using the potent detoxifying fruits of lemon and lime is so important. By doing the LemonFastTm, we can reestablish the small intestines’ natural pH climate. If we eat foods that metabolized as an alkaline ash (70% to 80%) then our bodily fluids will have a slightly alkaline reading. For most Americans this is not the case. The foods that they consume create mostly acid ash and consequently the bodily fluids become acidic. Keep in mind that the blood is composed of 85 percent water. It is the state of this water that by in large determines our health. As explained previously, water ionizes into hydrogen ions (H+) or hydroxyls (OH-). These molecules form with the molecules of other minerals to determine the pH of the bodily fluids.

]]>

Body pH, First Line of Defense Factors such as toxins, stress, lack of exercise, inadequate water intake and failure to control weight all push the body to a more acid state. They used to say that the body’s first line of defense is the immune system. However, there is a growing consensus amongst scientists that pH is a more important factor. Without the pH being in the right state, the lymph nodes are compromised. The adult human body is comprised of approximately 10 gallons of water. The pH of this fluid, which is contained in every cell throughout the body, is either acid or alkaline. The ideal situation is for all of these cells to be in an alkaline solution. However when the pH of the urine indicates otherwise, it means that all the water in the body is acidic. This affects the chemistry of the entire body. The human being was designed by God to be able to constantly heal itself. If we go counter to the manual that we have been given (The Holy Bible) then we will experience a diminished quality of life. According to research, total healing of chronic illness only takes place when and if the blood, intra-cellular and extra-cellular fluids are restored to a normal, slightly alkaline pH. There are two organs of the body where acid is supposed to be in abundance. They are the stomach and the mantle of the skin. All other areas of the body are meant to be in an alkaline state. However, due to the poor diet and lifestyle of our modern culture, the intestines are generally more acidic than nature intended it to be. This creates a climate where parasites and bacterial infestation can manifest. Most people do not know that their diets create a toxic, acidic, anaerobic (oxygen deprived), parasite-laden, and systemically diseased body.

If they knew how to reverse this trend then many would. This could happen by undergoing the LemonFastTM detoxifying program. By cleansing the whole digestion tract, the body is prepared to acclimate to the right foods, which restores the proper pH levels of the body. Would you prefer creating an alkaline, strong immune and oxygen rich cellular system? The decision is ours. However, the actions we take should be guided with irrefutable scientific fact.

When pH Levels Are Out of Balance Arthritis – Immune Problems – Parasites multiply – Oxygen levels drop – Mineral assimilation is affected – Enzymes function improperly – electrolytes can reverse their charge – Good bacteria in small intestines decrease – Allergies intensified – Poor Circulation – Kidney Problems – Liver Problems – Constipation – Skin Problems – High Cholesterol – Weight Problems – Thyroid Disorder Maintenance of pH depends on Hydrogen ion concentration, H+ ions produced by metabolism. The pH is a measure of expressing extremely small concentrations of acids in solution. The scale is exponential. A change of one unit is actually a ten-fold change. A pH reading of 6.0 is ten times more acidic than a pH of 7.0 or a reading of 5.0 is one hundred times more acidic than a level at 7.0 Acids are substances that can provide a hydrogen ion. Strong acids hold their H+ ion weakly, so that it is free to dissociate and act on other substances. Weak acids hold the hydrogen more tightly so it does not contribute as greatly to free hydrogen ion concentration. As a result the solution has a higher (less acidic) pH.

Acid Buffering Natural buffer systems help blood keeps its pH constant. Alkaline minerals, Bicarbonates, phosphates, and intra-cellular proteins are ready to regulate the acid in our bodies and restore the necessary alkalinity in our blood. The human body has a buffering system by which substances can enter the bloodstream and resist changes in pH (acid concentration) by undergoing a reversible reaction. For example, when hydrogen ion concentration increases, alkaline minerals (calcium) neutralize the acid and only a small change in pH will occur. Without the buffer system the change in blood pH would be life threatening. Our lungs breathe in alkaline oxygen and eliminate acid wastes in the form of carbon dioxide. The kidneys eliminate excessive amounts of either acid or alkaline substances in the urine. Our bones constantly release their alkaline minerals—calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, zinc, boron, copper, and strontium in order to neutralize acids that the body produces or ingest. An example of a buffer is the carbonic acid (H2CO3) and bicarbonate (H+HCO3-) system. This buffer is a pH shock absorber, which temporarily binds to the free hydrogen ion, and it becomes a rapid response. The carbonic acid dissociates to carbon dioxide (CO2) and H2O and the lungs expel the acid waste resulting in a small change in pH. Without the presence of bicarbonate the concentration of H+ ions would increase and the blood would become extremely acidic. The uniqueness of this buffer system is that the reaction is reversible. The hydrogen ion can be given back.

When alkali is added to solution, carbonic acid provides the proton to neutralize the alkali, resulting in only a small change in pH, that otherwise would be much greater with the increase of hydroxide (OH-) ions. Through the complex chemical regulation of carbonic acid (by the lungs) and of base (alkaline) bicarbonate (by the kidneys) the body maintains the hydrogen ion concentration (pH) which keeps the extra cellular fluid between 6.8 and 7.4.

Maintaining narrow pH is critical to health The pH range indicates the amount of oxygen in your system. Each .10 = 10% less oxygen in your system. This means that if your pH is 6.2, you have 20% less oxygen than someone who has a pH of 6.4. The correlation between high acid pH levels and chronic degenerative disorders is quite strong. The lack of oxygen in the blood creates a breeding ground for many of the diseases that confront our modern society. The body tries to neutralize the high acidity with oxygen (alkaline). When the body is in a chronic state of acidosis, the body is spending all its oxygen reserves trying to neutralize the acid. Consequently, it neglects the function of metabolism and toxic waste removal. This can lead to a chronically low oxygen levels and high toxic levels. The foods that we eat can help increase our oxygen reserves. This is one of the reasons that alkaline foods should be between 70% and 80% of the diet. Foods that contain both fat and protein are low in oxygen-weight ratios and they can further deplete the body because it takes more oxygen to metabolize them. Foods that are metabolized as alkaline ash such as spinach, broccoli, collards and a host of green leafy foods are made up of almost 50% oxygen. This adds to the energy level of the body and mind because the alkaline oxygen is not being depleted through the metabolic process. Reduction diets that are low in complex carbohydrates and high in protein might work for temporary weight loss however low energy levels are the result.

Tap Water Versus Bottled Water-the Best Choice

Without water, humans could not exist. Water is essential for life, it’s life. The situation is now that more and more people are questioning whether the bottled water is safe, or at least safer than tap water since bottled water is everywhere and that billions of litres or gallons are consumed every year with an increasing trend. We have been convinced that it’s the purest drink around. But, according to Eric Goldstein, co-director of the NRDC (U.S. Natural Resource Defence Council) no one should think that bottled water is better regulated, better protected or safer than tap water. For sure, some bottled water comes from sparkling springs, but more than 25 percent of it comes from municipal water. For example, Dasani a Coca-Cola brand comes from Brampton, Ontario and Aquafina a Pepsi brand comes from the municipal water of Philadelphia. The water is treated, purified and sold to consumers at a thousandfold increase in price and most people are surprised to learn they are drinking glorified tap water, but bottlers are nor required to indicate their water sources on their labels. There is a case in U.S., water from a well located near a hazardous-waste site was sold to many bottlers labeling their products as “springwater”.

]]>

HEALTH RISKS OF BOTTLED WATER

According to a number of studies, claims of purity of some bottled water are far from the truth and may not be as pure as expected. In 1999 the NRDC tested more than 1000 bottles of 103 brands of water and the organization found that one sample from a third of the brands contained bacterial bacterial or chemical contaminants in levels exceeding the standards and the risk is still there. The organization also found that samples of two brands were contaminated with phthalates, in one case exceeding EPA standards for tap water. Phthalates are used to make plastic softer and they can affect body’s normal functions. They probably got into the water during processing at the bottling plant, or were present in the original water source. Ohio State has compared Cleveland’s tap water to 57 samples of bottled water. They found that while most of the bottled water were cleaner, 15 samples had higher bacteria counts than city water.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

A lady from Minneapolis has stopped drinking bottled water because she found out that many brands use municipal water and she now drinks only filtered tap water. Filtering your water will allow you to remove harmful chemicals like aluminum .
Filters can be provided by well known companies and delivered to your house. Take action now , protect yourself and your family. The choice is yours.

Impurities in Drinking Water

The amount of impurities in drinking water can vary from region to region, and even from house to house. Where the water comes from, and how it is treated for use also plays a part in what is in the water. Heavy rains or severe flooding can affect the water table, and wash contaminates into the water table from agricultural and manufacturing sites. Wells and municipal sources alike can be affected by the underlying water table, so what goes into the ground winds up in the water in some form or other.

Sediment and iron are common water problems, mainly with drilled wells. these can be removed with filtation units. There has, however, been concern over the rising amount of prescription and over the counter medications being detected in the water supply at trace levels. Bacteria, parasites and toxins can also show up in the water, needing special treatment to remove them and make the water safe to use. Municipal water can be affected by several factors, one of which is the water being treated for use. Some sources of water include resevoirs and a series of wells, and most cities recycle waste water. Waste treatment facilities use chemicals and filtration techniques to clean water.Getting your water tested or contacting your city water department for the latest water test results will tell you what is in the water coming to your home. Once you have this information, you can take the needed steps to remove the impurities in drinking water supplied to your family.
